Hailey
Hailey is a multi-instrumentalist, currently finishing her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance at Université de Montréal, and preparing auditions for Master’s programs. She has picked up many instruments over the years, including flute, piano, trumpet, saxophone, snare drum, singing, and more! She has performed with many ensembles, including the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra for four years (three of which she was principal flute). While Hailey is mainly a classical musician, she does have experience playing all genres of music – from classical, to jazz, to pop, and even highland music.
Before moving to Montreal in 2023, Hailey taught in two local music schools in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she is originally from. She taught flute, piano, and Suzuki Early Childhood Education. Hailey follows the Suzuki method of teaching, and is working on completing certifications with the Suzuki Association. Since beginning her teaching journey, Hailey has learned a lot about how to communicate with students of all ages, finding the most effective ways to explain new ideas, and how to encourage and motivate her students. It is important for her to create a positive environment where the students feel safe and happy to try new things, explore, and push the limits of what they can do.
