Online Music Lessons
For most of us, 2020 has been a year of swapping face-to-face interactions for online meetups. From classrooms to meeting rooms and from work to play, large portions of our everyday lives are currently unfolding over video calls.
The good news is, whether you’re a budding musician or looking to level-up your existing musical skills, online music lessons are just as engaging and effective as in-person lessons! In fact, given how much more time people are currently spending at home, this is a golden opportunity to learn how to play an instrument (or dust off an instrument you haven’t played in a while).
If you have any questions or would like to add your child’s name to our audition list, call us now at 514-505-6606 or contact us here.
Benefits of online music lessons
- Convenience: Virtual lessons don’t require students to visit our studio, which allows parents to save time on commuting.
- Technology: Online music lessons make use of the latest technology, making for a modern and refined experience.
- Flexibility: Since video sessions take place in the comfort of home, we have even more time slots available than usual, and our teachers are more flexible than ever.
How do online music lessons work?
Just like in-person lessons, our instructors work one-on-one with their students to improve their musical skills and encourage them to be the very best they can be. Our student-centric approach means each session will be specifically tailored to your skill level and goals.
At a set time, both the student and instructor will log into a common video chat room, and the session will unfold as usual. As a student, you will receive a link to the secure meeting room before the lesson begins so that everything runs perfectly on time.
You will need to have your own instrument and any necessary accessories – picks, sticks, and all! You will also need a laptop or desktop computer to stream the virtual lesson, as well as a stable internet connection. We recommend setting up your computer in an area with ample light so your instructor can see you properly and observe your technique in detail.
Are online lessons effective?
Yes, of course! Your music educator will be able to share all of the same tips, tricks, and advice over a video call as they would during a face-to-face session. Plus, lots of people actually prefer meeting with their instructor online, since there’s no need to commute to our studio (even though we love welcoming our students in-person and look forward to doing so again!). That means it’s easier than ever to fit your passion for music into your hectic schedule.
Which instruments can I learn online?
Our expert instructors are able to adapt any type of music lesson for online! Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or expert musician, our pros can seamlessly teach you how to play your favourite instrument: we offer online piano lessons, drum lessons, guitar lessons, singing lessons, bass lessons, flute lessons, violin lessons and more.
What are the available lesson times?
WIMA has multiple music instructors who give lessons for each instrument, so it’s easy to find someone who can accommodate your schedule. Some students find it easiest to book their lessons in the evening after work or school, while others prefer weekends or afternoons. Our goal is to make sure you’re in a great headspace every time you pick up your instrument, so our team will be happy to pair you with an instructor that meets all of your needs – both scheduling and otherwise!
