Learn drum techniques from qualified teachers

The drum is a very physical instrument, and poor technique can lead to injuries. With a few hours per week, students will learn a musical style and how to play without injuring their hands, arms, and back, as well as how to “hit hard” without hurting themselves. Each week of practice will allow the students to learn different techniques for exploring rhythms, such as the basics, independence, solos, the double bass drum pedal, and improvisation, to name just a few.

Our experienced instructors have extensive proficiency in jazz, rock, funk, and other modern drumming styles. They personalize each lesson plan to address technique, endurance, and musicality. From single and double pedal control to jazz drumming and dynamics, students receive expert guidance that helps them progress efficiently.

For younger learners just beginning their musical journey, we also recommend exploring our dedicated toddler music classes, which help develop early rhythm and coordination in a playful and structured environment.

Alex C.

imageMusic has seeped through my entire life and I feel that same connection with everyone that has ever heard music. Anyone that has heard it can learn music, and there is no clear line for any education. To form our connections with music and real life and how the beat and rhythm goes on is an essential pillar to my ideologies in the art of music and music making.

I have a graduate college certificate in Music Performance from Holland College School of Performing Arts, which included performance, theory, and business courses in all styles of popular music. I studied guitar privately from ages seven to nineteen, drumkit from ages ten to seventeen, Celtic & pipe band snare drum from ages fourteen to eighteen, and orchestral percussion from ages sixteen until eighteen.  Outside of professional training, I have performed in a multitude of musical groups from independent to professional touring and/or residencies over the course of the past twelve years.

Thomas

With a drumming journey that began at the age of 6, I’ve traversed through various musical landscapes, starting from rock and pop and venturing into jazz, classical, reggae, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. My dedication to mastering these styles took me to McGill’s Schulich School of Music, where I am currently learning under the tutelage of Jim Doxas, Rodrigo Simoes, Joao Catalao and Darrell Green.

In 2021, I had the privilege of performing with MusicFest’s National Conn-Selmer Centerstage Jazz Band, earning awards such as the esteemed “Ludwig Canadian Drummer of the Year” and the prestigious “Dream Cymbals Big Band Drummer of the Year.” Since then, I have been performing all around Montreal with a wide variety of different bands!

As an educator, I hope that my passion for music and teaching will allow you to take your drumming to the next level. From honing coordination to exploring improvisation, I tailor my lessons to suit individual needs and interests. Let’s embark on a rhythmic journey together, where learning and enjoyment harmonize seamlessly!”
